The Paraiso del Mar Resort Development sits on the El Mogote peninsula just across the bay from the Malecon (waterfront boardwalk) in La Paz. The development was the vision of John Fair and Luis Cano, who have developed resorts such as The Esperanza and The Grace Bay Club. Paraiso del Mar Development consists of nearly 900 acres, while over 800 acres have been set aside for wildlife sanctuaries, mangrove preserves and a biological corridor. This first class development is centered around La Paz's first golf course--designed by Arthur Hills and already becoming known as one of the best in the Baja. The course was voted one of the Top New International Courses in 2009 by Golf Digest. The Master Plan consists of 7 resort neighborhoods, a beach club, club house with fitness center and restaurant, shopping plaza, and many pools in addition to the world class 18 hole golf course. Currently there are 90 casas (homes) and 5 condo buildings completed with many more on the way. The development is currently undergoing a change of ownership. The HOA's have taken over the day to day activities and staffing at the Resort and it is still fully functional and a wonderful place to visit.
